Hey Companies, Stop posting Ghost jobs!
If you are among the numerous companies posting “ghost jobs,” shame on you; please stop. Do you realize or even care about the impact of this practice on job seekers, especially during these uncertain times in the job market amidst the mass layoffs occurring in government agencies and private companies?
According to a report from Harvard Business School, a survey of 646 hiring managers revealed that 40% of companies admitted to posting ghost jobs last year. These roles ranged from entry-level to executive positions. The unfortunate reality is that seven out of ten hiring managers responsible for posting these ghost jobs believe this practice is acceptable and even state that it is “morally permissible.” Sadly, 60% of online job posts are ghost jobs. What is wrong with this picture, and why aren’t companies doing better?
